Transitioning from Relaxer to Natural Hair

Hello Friends,

A week or so ago, I was wrapping my hair to sit under the dryer and my hair was totally resisting the idea of laying flat. Despite my best efforts and assistance from gel, it continued to curl. Frustrated, I decided to wash and go...the journey began. Since that day, I have been wearing my hair curly.

I'm not a stranger to the idea of a natural style. My daugter and her college buddies have been natural for years...gorgeous, itellegent, beautful women, wearing their natural hair with splendor and pride. I once attempted transitioning, but failed after a few weeks and went back to the perm. I've been short, long and short again, but never all natural. Not sure if this is my second attempt or my new birth into the world of natural hair. One thing I know for sure, I'm over the perms. Let's see where this journey takes me...

The style in the photo is a wash and go. It is just about a week old. I conditioned it with Giovanni Conditioner and Giovanni Vitapro Fusion Leave-In Hair Treatment. At night I wear a satin bonnet or tie it with a silk scarf. In the morning, the steam from the shower re-hydrates my curls. I then spritz it with the Vitapro, followed by a natural glosser. Last week I had a barber trim the edges. I definitely prefer a more polished/finished look, so I will stop in and visit Yaz at my local barber shop to keep my edges "tight." :-) By the way...the trim was $8...ten minutes tops.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I will post photos and blog along the way. Thanks for reading!
