Hello Friends,
A week or so ago, I was wrapping my hair to sit under the dryer and my hair was totally resisting the idea of laying flat. Despite my best efforts and assistance from gel, it continued to curl. Frustrated, I decided to wash and go...the journey began. Since that day, I have been wearing my hair curly.
I'm not a stranger to the idea of a natural style. My daugter and her college buddies have been natural for years...gorgeous, itellegent, beautful women, wearing their natural hair with splendor and pride. I once attempted transitioning, but failed after a few weeks and went back to the perm. I've been short, long and short again, but never all natural. Not sure if this is my second attempt or my new birth into the world of natural hair. One thing I know for sure, I'm over the perms. Let's see where this journey takes me...
The style in the photo is a wash and go. It is just about a week old. I conditioned it with Giovanni Conditioner and Giovanni Vitapro Fusion Leave-In Hair Treatment. At night I wear a satin bonnet or tie it with a silk scarf. In the morning, the steam from the shower re-hydrates my curls. I then spritz it with the Vitapro, followed by a natural glosser. Last week I had a barber trim the edges. I definitely prefer a more polished/finished look, so I will stop in and visit Yaz at my local barber shop to keep my edges "tight." :-) By the way...the trim was $8...ten minutes tops.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I will post photos and blog along the way. Thanks for reading!
Just Stefanie...
Now transitioning from relaxed hair to natural. Sharing me journey...

Live Authentically...
My daughter shared this poem with me Mother's Day weekend. It is powerful and so very well written. The words spoke to my soul. Wanted to share the poem in this blog. The author, Oriah Mountain Dreamer, has a published book inspired by the poem; The Invitation. EnJOY her written word below...
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day,and if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Wednesday...the hump day of them all.
"I'm gonna take myself a piece of sunshine and paint it all over my sky." - Gil Scott-Heron
I get the sense a economic recovery is on the way. There's something about Spring that renews and makes you believe in new beginnings. Time to begin a new focus approach to business. Totally about gratitude and acceptance at this point. No more time spent focusing on the rear view mirror of life. For today, I believe in the possibilities of the seasons of life. Winter has past and thankfully Spring is here...sounds good right? Let's walk in the theory for the next twenty-four hours at least. Here's to Spring...
